Ruud or Carrier furnace/AC combo?
Ruud – 95% 2-stage variable speed furnace, 14.5 SEER AC, 10 years parts AND labor, 10 years compressor, lifetime heat exchange, 3 years maintenance (fall/spring, $540 value)

I think the maintenance and the 8 years extra labor for Ruud make it the better deal. What does everyone else think?
the most important things done during a maintenance check is changing the filters, and washing the condenser in the summer. grass clipping, cottonwood seeds, bird feathers, all get caught in the coils and decrease the units efficiency. not cleaning it can also cause the unit to overheat and shut off, or it could damage electrical parts like the capacitor or contactor. learning to clean it is super easy, all you need is a screwdriver, a water hose and some coil degreaser. remember to clean from the inside out and always remove the serviceable disconnect first. and im sure you already know how to change the filter. so the maintenance contract isnt really a 500 dollar value. they are just telling you that to justify their higher price. and i would always choose carrier always ruud. and i would choose tempstar over either of them.
